Get answers to common questions about Smoothing Straightener.
The Smoothing Straightener is formulated to work best on hair that has not been chemically treated. We perform a consultation and strand test to assess hair health and determine suitability, minimizing risk. Your stylist will discuss alternatives if your hair shows previous damage.
Results typically last six months to one year depending on curl pattern, hair growth and maintenance routine. Using sulfate-free products and gentle care extends longevity. Periodic touch-ups are recommended to refresh new growth and maintain a consistent straight look.
You’ll receive specific aftercare instructions, such as waiting before washing, using sulfate-free shampoo, deep conditioning regularly, and minimizing heat styling. Avoid tight hairstyles and chlorine exposure early on to preserve the straightened finish and promote hair health.
Because this service works best on chemically untreated hair, previously relaxed or permed hair may be unsuitable without a consultation. We perform strand testing and may recommend alternative treatments or adjusted timing to protect hair integrity.
Plan for a 2–4 hour appointment depending on hair length, thickness and texture. The process includes consultation, application, processing time, neutralizing, blow-drying and flat ironing. Allow extra time for consultation and customized care recommendations.
Coloring can impact or be affected by chemical straightening. We generally advise coloring at least two weeks before or after the service, but timing depends on condition and desired results. Book a consultation so your stylist can create a safe, effective plan.
