Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Loc Detox.

Most clients benefit from a Loc Detox every 1–3 months, depending on product use, scalp oiliness, and lifestyle. Those who use heavy products or exercise frequently may need monthly detoxes; lighter routines can extend to every three months for maintenance.

Sinkor stylists use gentle, color-safe protocols when detoxing colored locs. Mild ACV rinses and controlled baking soda applications typically avoid significant fading, but highly porous or recent color treatments may experience slight lightening. We tailor technique to protect moisture and color integrity.

Average Loc Detox appointments last 60–90 minutes, depending on loc thickness, length, and degree of buildup. Consultation, targeted ACV or baking soda prep, detox shampooing, and final conditioning are included. Heavier buildup or restorative treatments may extend appointment time.

Light retwisting or reconditioning styling can usually be done after a Loc Detox, but we often recommend waiting a few days for locs to settle, especially after deep cleansing. Your stylist will assess moisture and integrity before any retwisting to avoid stress on the hair.

We assess your scalp history during consultation and perform patch tests when needed. For sensitive scalps we prefer diluted ACV rinses, gentle detox shampoos, and minimal baking soda exposure. We also offer fragrance-free, hypoallergenic options and will customize treatment to avoid irritation.

Use gentle, sulfate-free cleansers and avoid heavy waxes or greasy products to prevent rapid buildup. Keep scalp moisturized with lightweight oils, wear a satin wrap at night, and rinse hair after heavy sweating. Schedule regular detox appointments as recommended to maintain freshness.
